Gold Coast City Council, Queensland: Property Beyond have recently completed a Property (Buildings/Facilities and Land) Management Review for GCCC. The GCCC has an extensive and complex portfolio of properties comprising in excess of 5,500 owned, leased and controlled sites/parcels of lands as well as 1,500 built structures and buildings. The project brief also required that any proposed property management improvement processes be structured to inform other GCCC change initiatives including the ERP system, the revised Local Government Act requirements for Asset Management Plans; and the Strategic Procurement Review initiatives. The project methodology included interviews with key stakeholders; perusal of relevant documentation; property functions maturity self-assessment surveys; benchmarking of practices elsewhere; and regular interactions with the Project Control Group. The review identified ten key areas in which there were opportunities for potential process improvements supported by recommendations. An interim transition and implementation plan was also developed and the recommendations were presented to the Executive Leadership Team.
